New Additions to the Survey Vessel Fleet

April 30, 2015 by eTrac

eTrac has purchased its 8th and 9th survey vessels. The first, an aluminum 21′ Thunderjet. The vessel’s first project is to support a dive operation with a local dive firm in support of a debris removal operation. Divers were positioned with GPS and motion sensor, coupled to a USBL and a Beacon device attached to the diver backup tank. The survey craft worked alongside the dive vessel and provided remote display to the dive tender on the vessel. A scanning sonar was used to confirm positions and multibeam sonar imagery was overlaid in the positioning software to assist real-time decision making during the dive operation.

The second, the S/V Taku, a 33′ Armstrong Catamaran. Taku has been used on multiple projects in the Bay since its arrival including towing an Edge Tech sub-bottom-profiler for cable laying projects.
